The After-School Program is one of the significant community outreach ministries of Navin Doman Theological College (NDTC). It is designed to provide academic support, moral guidance, and holistic development opportunities for children from the nearby villages. The program primarily serves children from economically and socially disadvantaged families who often have limited access to educational resources and academic assistance.
The program is conducted from Monday to Thursday, between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., on the NDTC campus. During this time, children from the surrounding villages gather at the college, where NDTC students voluntarily assist them with their studies. They help the children complete their homework, explain difficult subjects, prepare for examinations, improve their reading and writing skills, and overcome academic challenges. Individual attention is also provided whenever necessary to ensure that every child receives the support needed to grow academically.
In addition to academic assistance, the program emphasizes the overall development of each child. It seeks to cultivate good character, discipline, respect for others, personal hygiene, time management, self-confidence, leadership qualities, and positive values. Through storytelling, group discussions, educational games, creative activities, songs, and interactive learning sessions, children are encouraged to develop a love for learning and build strong moral and ethical foundations.
The After-School Program serves as a source of hope and encouragement for many underprivileged children. Its purpose extends beyond improving academic performance; it also provides a safe, caring, and supportive environment where children can learn, grow, and develop into responsible members of society. By investing in the education and character formation of young learners, the program contributes to building stronger families and healthier communities.
The program also provides NDTC students with valuable opportunities to develop practical ministry skills. As volunteers and mentors, they gain experience in teaching, leadership, communication, teamwork, compassion, and community service. This hands-on involvement strengthens their commitment to Christian service and prepares them for effective ministry in diverse community settings.
Ultimately, the After-School Program reflects NDTC's commitment to holistic community transformation through education, service, and Christian compassion. By nurturing the intellectual, moral, and spiritual growth of children, the program seeks to empower them with knowledge, confidence, and hope for a brighter future while demonstrating the love of Christ through practical acts of care and service.
